Shopping!

I went shopping by myself and survived!!!! Praise the Lord! I found stuff I needed, paid, got change, and understood a bit of what the ladies said to me. Whoohoo.

Kelly,

Sounds like you're having a good time in Albania (minus the bugs). We'll be sure to pray for you.

Wow! Congratulations on your first solo shopping expedition. That's fantastic! I'm sure it was a little challenging, but I'm glad to hear it went well! What are the stores like? Open air? Or enclosed like ours?

Love, Christine

In answer to Christine's question: most of the markets are a bit like convenience stores in size, but with generally the stuff you would expect from a few aisles of a grocery store. Some of them also have more stuff--there's one with a freezer case that does have meat, ice cream, and vegetables, for instance. Most of them don't have doors, they have a big gate that rolls down like in a mall. Prices are sometimes on a pricetag, but often just written in marker, and usually people either write down your total on a scrap of paper or have an adding machine. (No cash registers for any I've seen.) That's about all I can think of.
